Welcome to our Beauty Blogger Profile series, where we shine the spotlight on some of our favorite beauty bloggers!

Beauty blogger Ivy Boyd, Wake Up for Makeup
Blogger's name: Ivy Boyd

Please give us some background: when did you start your blog, and why? I couldn't stop talking about makeup with friends, coworkers, and complete strangers at the drugstore. I had to put all of this somewhere! With my graphic design background, I knew I would enjoy the creative process of putting together a blog, and I have.

How many beauty products do you use to get ready on an average day?(Including shampoo/conditioner, soap, shaving, facial skin care, hair products and tools, lotions, etc.) 15-20?

You can only use 5 beauty products (from the above parameters) to get ready today. What are they? Assuming I shower the night before like I usually do: foundation, eye primer, blush, mascara, lipstick.

Who was your first beauty icon, and why? Cindy Crawford. I remember thinking she was just the prettiest person and when she was on MTV's House of Style I thought she was just so cool.

What's one beauty trend you'd like to bring back from the past? I can't think of many I really want resurrected, but I can definitely appreciate the glam of the 90's when the supermodel was the ultimate celebrity.

What's one beauty trend you'd like to see the end of? I have never enjoyed yellow eye shadow. I just don't think it's flattering for anyone.

What's the biggest challenge you face as a beauty blogger? Oh, definitely time. And lack of it. I work full-time in addition to blogging and it's no easy feat just balancing it all.

What's your biggest personal beauty challenge? Like most, my skin. Some days, it's totally fine, and other days, it's a struggle. It's truly a work in progress.

When do you feel most beautiful? I know I'm supposed to answer "when I have no makeup on" but that's not true. I feel most beautiful when I've just done a challenging makeup look and the results came out better than I expected.

This is a question we ask everyone at LATHER: Tell us one thing about yourself that most people don't know: I have never colored my hair. Not even at home.

Now, let's play LATHER's "Which would you rather." Would you rather:
  • Go without showering for a week, but never leave the house, or go without makeup for a week and appear in public every day? A week without showering. I have no problem going out in public sans makeup but a whole week - hey now, that's pushing it.
  • Have great skin and bad hair or bad hair and great skin? Great skin all the way. Hair isn't a huge concern for me. It should be, but sadly, tis not. I like messy hair best.
  • Have crows' feet or turkey neck? Haha, oh gosh, these questions! I guess I'll go with turkey neck and just stock up on scarves!
  • Never wear lipstick/gloss again or never wear jeans again? Oh, I can do without jeans but not lipgloss or lipstick. I like wearing dresses so I could do that.
  • Give up professional brow grooming or professional manicures? Both! I don't do either. I just pluck my eyebrows as waxing and threading have gone terribly wrong for me. I have tons of nail polish so I've always liked doing my own nails. Plus, I'd rather spend my waxing and manicure money on more makeup!
Name three other beauty blogs we should be reading:
  1. The original beauty blog that inspired me. To me, Karen is like the OG of beauty bloggers. http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/
  2. If you want detailed reviews and swatches galore, no one does it better than Temptalia. The Foundation Matrix tool and Dupe List are so comprehensive! http://www.temptalia.com/
  3. The Editorial section of Beautylish is my go-to resource. I have learned so much from the articles here, especially the ones by James Vincent. http://www.beautylish.com/articles
You can learn more about Ivy at Wake Up for Makeup. And thank you, Ivy!
